Swig Smart Accounts Are Live in Porto by Anchorage Digital
Institutional Solana DeFi access through programmable smart accounts
We’re excited to announce that Anchorage Digital, home to America’s first federally regulated crypto bank, has integrated Swig smart accounts into Porto, its institutional self-custody wallet for DeFi access.
Porto users can now securely use Solana DeFi applications that support Swig smart accounts for signing. Swig’s programmable controls unlock institutional workflows with policy-based approvals, delegated execution, and enterprise automations.
Robust self-custody paired with Anchorage Digital’s rigorous security standards presents an exciting new model for institutional crypto flows.
What is Porto?
Porto is Anchorage Digital's self-custody wallet for institutions. It combines institutional self-custody with a proven security model: custom policies, onchain quorum approvals, transaction risk simulations, and tamper-resistant HSMs for key isolation.
Porto workflows can be constrained by policy, reviewed by the right approvers, and supported with clearer transaction context for approval.
How Swig Works with Porto
Porto users can now use Swig with apps that have integrated Swig (like Glider).
Swig smart wallets are onchain-native PDAs (program derived addresses) that bolster security with a control plane for specifying allowable actions. At the heart of Swig is a flexible authority and role framework. Authorities are permitted users delegated by the wallet owner. Roles represent the universe of permissible policies. Policies, such as transaction thresholds, transferable token caps, session limits, and program allowlists are stored onchain and enforced by the Swig wallet program at execution.
A Swig client’s root authority is secured through Porto’s HSM-backed infrastructure, while app-level authorities remain bound by their permission set and can be revoked when needed.
An app can't bypass set policies, and a compromised backend can't rewrite them. Teams get finer control over the guardrails they set.
Swig users can delegate permissions to trusted authorities and define tightly-scoped roles. One major benefit is frictionless onchain UX. When using a compatible app, Porto users can delegate authority over portfolio rebalancing once. Users do not need to manually approve every rebalancing tx.
”Swig gives Porto users a secure way to automate onchain activity without giving up control. By defining permissions and limits with smart accounts, institutions can delegate routine actions while keeping sensitive transactions within clear, enforceable boundaries. VisualSign with Swig also allows us to extend this clarity and composability across the ecosystem as more chains adopt both.”

Why This Matters
Institutions today need programmable security without compromising on speed when using DeFi. However, most wallet infrastructure is not built for a world of automated trading strategies, multi-step DeFi actions, or internal treasury management. Approval workflows are often handled server-side and require explicit approvals per action. Firms are forced to choose between security and speed. Onchain capital either routes through brittle signing flows that don’t scale, or teams accept risks that they cannot properly oversee.
Swig smart accounts bring programmatic controls onchain. Developers and institutions define the guardrails that govern an account, with enforcement happening directly at the wallet program layer.
Porto users can now move faster with stronger policy boundaries around sensitive onchain actions, unlocking a more secure path for trading strategies, treasury ops, and delegated execution. In our view, programmable onchain controls are the necessary foundation for institutional DeFi adoption.
VisualSign on Solana
Swig also recently collaborated with Anchorage Digital to support VisualSign Protocol (VSP), which helps eliminate blind signing on Solana for supported smart wallet instructions.
With VisualSign, smart wallet instructions are rendered as human-readable summaries at the point of approval. Instead of validating raw instruction data, an approver reads a clear illustration of the transaction’s intent.
VSP helps reduce the risk of approving a transaction that deviates from the signer’s expectations.
What’s Next
This launch is the first phase of a deeper integration into the Anchorage Digital ecosystem. Our long-term vision is for any Anchorage Digital client, whether via regulated custody or Porto self-custody, to have access to Swig for onchain signing and policy management.
Programmable finance depends on institutional-grade controls. Swig's vision is to become the smart account layer for institutional custody, policy management, and transaction workflows on Solana. Partnering with Anchorage Digital is a major step towards that future.
